The Tracy Piper at Art San Diego
Tracy Piper, with the support of Art Attack SF, is proud to premiere "You Are Loved," an ongoing series of narrative-flipping portraits at The [SOLO] Project, Art San Diego from October 18th - 21st, 2018. A kaleidoscope of vibrant color, these bold and playful works address the ever-changing landscape of female/non-binary identity in the 21st century.
Fabricated from multiple sources, these fictionalized “daughters” challenge society’s notions of beauty by finding empowerment in their individuality—emphasizing the uniqueness inherent in us all. Seemingly familiar, these portraits could be of someone you know: neighbor, friend, sister, child, me, or you. In this oversaturated world where we are told how to look and behave, these works are a reminder that you can simply be you. You are enough. You are worthy. You are loved.
Also on view is “No," Tracy’s most recent series of provocative portraits that continue the conversation surrounding rape culture and the #MeToo movement by acknowledging female sexuality without relinquishing women’s rights and safety. The works blatantly confront common victim-blaming attitudes as the subjects wear their consent for all to see—exercising their fundamental right to say “no.”
